The Zone, Medics & Numb Feet

I often find myself in a fog of dusty memories when I enter the
 WORKOUT ZONE
(Which I L.O.V.E. by the way! I forget the pain I'm putting myself through for a brief moment)

Exit reality
                     Enter Zen
                                        Ha! Not really...maybe

Pain forgotten...
All of a sudden I'm surrounded by lush green and early morning light.
(instead of the mundane treadmill, & sporadic scenery in my garage)
The ground rumbles from the hundreds of feet hitting it at once.
An intimidating sound from the distance but empowering if you're a part of it.
The burn of the cadences in my throat.
Legs screaming for relief.
Lungs ready to fall to dust in my chest.
My cheeks tingling with nausea.
The southern humidity clinging to every drop of sweat.
Every part of me wanting to stop but I can't
There is no stopping
Drill Sergeant on my right (with German accent...she was funny) yelling "Fall out's move to the RIGHT!" or  "Casper pick it up!"

One mile - No Sweat
       Two mile - Better yet

                 Three miles - Gotta run
Four miles - Just for fun

Ugh! Why so many hills?! They're trying to kill me!
(voice in my head...usually followed by some Grr-ness & misplaced anger @ my Drill Sergeant)
"...what's the name of this club? I can't remember but it's alright alright just dance gonna be okay..."
Whaaaat?!
Oh riiiiight...I'm working out.
(Lady Gaga helps me keep up a good pace. Plus I like her music.)
Back to reality.

Don't you love this part of your workout? Being able to forget what hell you're putting your body through for brief spurts. My zone-outs push me. And man oh man am I grateful for them!
I feel so good afterwards!

But my feet went NUMB after Friday's workout.
Not the best feeling...or not since I didn't FEEL anything.
Does this happen to anyone else?
The last time my feet went numb from working out is back in good ole BCT.
I asked the Medic at sick call (back in tha day) what in the "hey-naun-knee" was going on.
(Who used to always tell me to stop singing to the clock radio. He didn't like my singing. But I did anyway. Music was hard to come by in Basic)
"It happened to me too. The feeling will come back when you're done training, don't worry"
And it did.
But my toe nails feel off. I put my feet through a lot then.
And the military (though they claimed to be THE pro's on the subject) seemed to fit us with shoes/boots that were too small.
So to avoid the same out come I asked one of my reliable sources
for real life advice on this problem I seem to have.
(And although they're usually blue, I like my toe nails. I'd prefer to keep them intact.)
"It's your shoes. You need different shoes."
The same thing happened to her.
Her Doc told her to get different shoes or insoles.
Guess what?
It worked! For her anyway.
She runs marathons, by the way. Reliable resource? Yeah- I think so!! Plus she rocks!
I'll be testing this out during today's workout.
Wish me luck!

What motivates you when you feel like you can't go any further?
My Zone out's really help.
Thinking of my family pushes me to be the best I can be.
Especially during work outs!
And of course, my GRRRR music.
So what's your "Umph" your "Grrr-ness" your "Yee-yeah"
I wanna know!

By the way-
I did really cool stuff in my Jammies Friday night.
Sorry for the delayed report.
My handsome lil fella turned 4 this weekend.
We like to go all out so I didn't have the extra "Me" time.

I found this rockin' blog that totally rocked my workout!
I did two circuits and did 2 minutes on each one each time.
Wow! If you've got a few minutes, you can totally fit this in!
And you need nuthin' but yourself & a stop watch & your Grrr Pj's & shoes.
(preferably not heels, just sayin)
It worked all my jiggly areas and I definitely felt it the next day!
Oh yeah! I rocked it!

I wrote down everything on a piece of paper so that when the wee man sleeps I can just grab that paper and my phone and get to work.
My goal was to do 30 minutes on the elliptical afterwards but was only able to fit in 16 minutes.
My wee lil man woke up. And I was in the Zone.
But it was great!
45 minute total workout and it was amazing!
I highly recommend this workout!

Oh! And don't forget your water!
I carry this handy dandy water bottle around with me all day.
My kids haven't figured out how to open it.
So they don't steal it from me :)
And I can track how much water I'm drinking.
I love my blue water bottle.

Here's my randomness to being accountable.
Love to hear about your Grrrr time!
:)
